Chris Beck - sound reinforcement
Chris
was born in 1977 and grew up in Birmingham.
“It started when I was about thirteen years old; I found out you could play with sound and make tunes on computers. I enjoyed mixing and making tracks for fun but didn't take it any further.”
“Years
later, attending a church, I got involved in helping John the sound
engineer. I started packing and unpacking equipment, then onto connecting
things together and asking ‘why?’ all the time. Until eventually I was
mixing!”
“I realised that this was the way I wanted to take my interest in playing with sound and could be of some use too.”
“Five years on and still doing sound for church I was accepted into The Midnight Movers as their sound reinforcement engineer - thanks to Tim the Bass for his referral.”
“I like many kinds of music and I go through phases. Sometimes I like weird stuff like Aphex Twin or FSOL and the next day I could listen to U2, Prodigy or Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx or 80’s stuff! Being a sound engineer makes you listen to and appreciate more kinds of music that are being acquired slowly all the time!”
“Not into football, love Chinese, Indian and Thai food, watching films and spending time with friends, computers, like going to theme parks and going on mad rides and my favourite day out is Thorpe Park.”
