NEXT GIG - Sunday 28 December 2008
Wedding, Pheasant Hotel, Stratford - NEXT GIG

Hello...
and welcome to the official website of The Midnight Movers

We also have a MySpace site and a FaceBook site

Listen to us...

The Midnight Movers are an eleven piece Soul band (including our own sound reinforcement engineer) based in and around Worcester and covering the West Midlands - a group of experienced and talented musicians who just love to perform. We can be booked for all kinds of events including social gatherings, weddings and corporate affairs

News...
We are joined by Ian Kershaw who takes on the important role of drummer. Welcome to the mad house Ian

Also, an old friend joins us on bass, welcome to Steve Barker

And, finally, our former tenor saxophonist Lucy Pratley has come back into the fold, welcome home

A Guide For Venues

With a larger than average band we generally have a greater requirement for space, power and so on.  To help prospective venues we have listed some of our requirements here...

  • Generally we will require a stage space of at least 6m by 3m. However, if your stage is smaller than this we can always carry out a site survey and let you know
  • A buffer space between the band and the audience of at least 1m. This is primarily for the benefit of those in the audience (we have Public Liability Insurance)
  • A safe and certified electricity supply (all our equipment is PAT tested) ideally providing a minimum of four 13 amp sockets
  • A secure changing room with toilet facilities (remember there are quite a few of us)
  • We will need full access to the venue from a good two hours before we are expected to play or before the start of the event if that is earlier (this is technically called "Load In" time)
  • We will need unhindered access to pack away shortly after the gig - this takes about one hour (you guessed it - "Load Out" time)
  • In respect of Load In and Load Out, we would benefit from preferential parking if at all possible. Some of our gear is very heavy, bulky and awkward to carry, so the nearer we can get our vehicles to the stage or playing area entrance the better
  • We have our own Sound Reinforcement Engineer. He needs to be positioned appropriately (generally this is centrally, at the back of the room or area in which we play)
  • We run a "snake" from the stage to wherever he is positioned. Provision needs to be made to ensure the "snake" is safe from the public and vica versa (don't worry - the "snake" doesn't bite)
  • We also have our own lighting! Well, you will want to see us as well as hear us! So, you should take this into account when considering space requirements. The lighting ideally needs a separate power supply
  • You will understand that we are often "bound" to the vicinity of the gig once we have set up, so sustenance can be an issue. If you are able to provide some sandwiches and soft drinks that would go down a treat
