Ian Kershaw - drums

Ian was born so long ago now he must have only been a baby at the time!

His first drumset as a child consisted of an upturned pressure cooker, a milk pan, a saucepan, a frying pan, lids on sticks for cymbals and two wooden spoons as drumsticks. He and his therapist still laugh about this, alongside his attempts to overcome the trauma of being brought up in a poor northern town in the 60's and 70's.

Having turned the wrong side of 40 and approaching the final throws of a midlife crisis the drumset once again beckoned. This time though some cash was spent on some proper gear, hours and hours of practice and intensive lessons with one of the Midland's finest pro drummers, Andy Edwards, resulting in a real passion for laying down a solid beat for fellow musicians to groove along with.

Ian's three favourite music genres of Rock, Blues and Soul have enabled him to play with a variety of styles and bands. In conjunction with thoroughly enjoying playing along with fellow Midnight Movers he can be found in the background propping up the rhythm sections of rock covers band "Rigmarole" and the Blues musos in "Muleskinner Blues Band".

Hopefully you'll find, as Ian does, that the amazing musical talents of the rest of the band are so captivating that you'll not even notice he's there and with that in mind, Ian looks forward to seeing you on the dancefloor sometime soon.
